Let me tell you about true love, Grandpa said. When I was younger, I was a social worker for child & family services in Oakland, California. Everyday, I met my colleagues for lunch. We'd open up our lunch boxes to see what our wives had prepared for us. Sometimes they'd trade lunches but I never traded my lunch. You see, I loved grapes. Back in those days grapes had seeds; great big hard, crunchy seeds that I couldn't chew. In my lunch box there was always a bag of grapes. Each one had been sliced in half and the seeds removed. I have no idea how long it took, but Grandma removed the seeds for me so that I could enjoy the grapes. I wouldn't trade that for the world. It may seem small, but to me, Grandma pulling out those seeds told me that she loved me. Now that's true love.
